Lucian Matei



Specializing in video mapping and animation, interactive installations, concept and video projection design, visual effects and post-processing. My works on experimental and borderline documentary film brought me several awards such as the Jury Award - AMA Film Festival Otelu Rosu 2010 or Jecza Gallery Award for Best Short Experimental Movie at the Video Art Exihibiton 2012.


1990 - Born in Transilvania, Romania.

2008-2009 Worked in local television as video editor and video designer

2009-2012 Studied at the Faculty of Arts and Design, Timișoara

2011-2016 Video & Projection designer at National Theatre of TImisoara

2017 video designer at National Theatre of Targu Mures

2018 video designer at National Theatre of Iasi

2017-2019 graduated MA Interactive Multimedia / Theatre, Film & Multimedia Master's Degree at Faculty of Theatre & Film, UBB, Cluj-Napoca

2019-present PhD Student, Theatre and Performing Arts, University of Theatre and Arts, Targu Mures

In the past 8 years, I have collaborated extensively with the Timisoara National Theatre. Arad Classical Theatre „Ioan Slavici”, National Theatre of Targu Mures and National Theatre of Iasi on video concept and projection design including "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller, "Ivanov" by Anton Cehov, “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder, “How I Became Stupid” by Martin Page, Cloaca by Maria Goos, “Life is a Dream” by Calderón de la Barca and international theatre projects such Art of Ageing founded by ETC, Say it now! by Marcelino Martin Valiente (Oslo).
